Dr. Ashraf Sabry performs clitoral hood reduction within his IntimiPlasty™ system, with over 20 years of experience in precise aesthetic gynecology. The procedure removes excess skin around the clitoris in a measured way, giving a balanced, natural appearance while fully preserving sensation.
What Is Clitoral Hood Reduction?
Clitoral hood reduction (hoodoplasty) is a precise procedure that reduces excess skin or redundant folds covering the clitoris from above and on the sides. Importantly, it does not touch the clitoris itself or its nerves, and it is completely different from female circumcision. It is often combined with labiaplasty to achieve full harmony of the intimate area.
When Is Clitoral Hood Reduction Recommended?
- When there is excess skin or prominent folds above or beside the clitoris.
- When the hood is out of proportion with the labia minora, especially after labiaplasty.
- When there is discomfort or friction with tight clothing or sports.
- When excess skin makes hygiene difficult or causes secretions to collect.
- When a woman wants a more balanced appearance and renewed confidence.
How Is the Procedure Performed?
Dr. Ashraf Sabry first assesses the hood and labia to measure the excess skin precisely. The procedure is performed under short anesthesia and takes about 30 to 60 minutes. Excess skin is removed from the sides using the IntimiPlasty™ precision technique, preserving nerves and blood vessels and leaving enough hood to protect the clitoris. The incisions are closed with fine dissolvable sutures.
Recovery and Results
Most women return to daily activities within one to three days. Mild swelling settles gradually over about two weeks, and intercourse can usually resume after 4 to 6 weeks. Thanks to precise surgery, scars are almost invisible, and the final result appears within about three months.
Are There Any Risks?
As with any surgery, swelling, bruising, minor bleeding or infection may occur and are usually temporary. Removing too much skin can cause clitoral oversensitivity, which is why Dr. Ashraf Sabry uses a conservative approach that removes only the excess. The procedure is performed only for women over 18, after a full discussion of expectations.
Tips Before and After the Procedure
- Stop smoking two weeks before surgery to improve healing.
- Keep the area clean daily with a gentle wash and dry it well.
- Use cold compresses in the first days to reduce swelling.
- Avoid tight clothing, cycling and strenuous exercise for 4 weeks.
- Follow your doctor’s instructions exactly for a faster recovery.
